With a 42-24 rout over the visiting Carolina Panthers, the Detroit Lions got off to their best start since 2011, moving to 4-1 on the season.
The Lions were without star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs, but the offense did not miss a beat. Jared Goff was nearly perfect on the day, going 20 for 28, with 236 yards and four total touchdowns. Running back David Montgomery, who scored the Lions first touchdown on a 42 yard run, eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the second straight week.
The story of the day, however, was the stifling Lions defense, which forced three turnovers on the day. Aidan Hutchinson continued his great start, racking up another sack and interception on the day.
The Lions will look to move to 5-1 as they head to Tampa Bay to face off against the 4-1 Buccaneers on Sunday, October 15th.
